There was no denying the fact that Jacob was rather good at showing people a good time, even if there were cases when it wasn't the sort of thing a parent would approve of. At least this time he wasn't helping Nessie build a bike or showing her cliffdivers. Nope. This was just a nightclub, and technically speaking, she was an adult, and he definitely was, so it wasn't like they were breaking any laws. Still, knowing Edward, it was probably best that they kept this to themselves. Besides, it wasn't like he had sneaked her away. As far as he knew, they both knew that she was with them. So honestly, this wasn't something that someone should get annoyed by. Yet he kept on imagining Edward or Bella, ready to rip him to shreds if they found out about this. Honestly, there were times he wondered if he was living on borrowed time, what with the fact that it was almost inevitable that he'd end up taking their daughter away from them.
Yet despite all of these thoughts, he was smiling as he lead Nessie into Eternity. Kind of a lame name, he couldn't help but think, but considering the fact that it was highly likely that he and Nessie weren't going to die at any time, he supposed that it was suitable. "So this is it," he commented as he glanced out, his voice managing to be over the pounding music.

Nessie felt a thrill run through her as she got out of the car, glancing around subconsciously to make sure her father wasn't ready to pop out of nowhere as he had a habit of doing. It wasn't like she was breaking any rules or anything, she just didn't quite know how he'd react to the knowledge that she was going to a club. With Jacob. In all honesty, she knew it would be more the company that aggrivated him as opposed to the location, which in turn infuriated her. She'd never understand why he was so reluctant for her to get closer to Jake. It encouraged her to sneak around and rebel, do things like this.
But, she wouldn't let that bother her. Nope, she thoug, confirming it in her head as she adjusted the strap of the dress she'd snuck out of Alice's closet. (Really, it wasn't as if she wore everything she bought for herself anyway, and she was positive her aunt wouldn't mind in the slightest.) Tonight is about me and Jake and having a good time. That's it. Nessie gripped his hand a little tighter as they made it inside, not wanting to get separated in the throng of people. "Popular place," she commented, having to raise her voice a bit to be heard.

Jacob noticed Nessie glancing around as if she were expecting Edward to pop up. As usual, they were on the same wavelength. He supposed that was one of the best parts of being soulmates, even if she didn't know it yet. Yeah...that was going to become an issue soon, because as the past had shown, Jacob wasn't the biggest fan of waiting when he was in love. Maybe it was a fault, but he couldn't help it. Something he would have thought Edward would understand better. Sometimes it really sucked, having him inside his head, but not sharing in return. As it was, there they were, sneaking around like the foxes escaping the hen house.
As a way to calm them both down, Jacob squeezed her hand. Hey, they were just here to enjoy themselves. No laws were being broken. Edward would just have to deal with this if, God forbid, he did find out about this. And he'd know better than to think Jacob planned anything that was anything less than the gentleman's thing to do. Gah, why was he justifying himself again?! He was beginning to be glad that he wasn't a dad, because the things that must have gone on in Charlie Swan and Edward Cullen's heads over something like a boyfriend were things he didn't want to contemplate. "Yep...so you want to dance or just hang around for now?"

Nessie smiled a little as Jacob squeezed her hand, giving his a gentle squeeze in return. Tonight was going to be quite enjoyable, she could already tell. Really, any excuse to get out fo the house and avoid the tension her parents caused was fine by her. It did bug her, though, that she didn't spend time with them like she used to. She'd always been close with her parents, and not being abelt ocomfortably spend time with them now was odd. She didn't really like it. It was nice, however, to have more time to spend with Jacob. Gah, the whole mess was confusing.
So don't think about it, her inner self commanded. "Let's dance," she replied to Jacob with a bright smile, weaving ahead of him and leading the way to the dancefloor. She'd always loved dancing, a trait she guessed she picked up from Alice, and to be able to go out now and spend her nights in a club excited her. If her parents found out about this little excursion, however, she wasn't sure if they'd be thrilled. A) She was with Jacob, and B) the outfit she'd borrowed from Alice wasn't one they'd be too happy about her wearing. She'd be able to talk her way out fo trouble, however. She always did.

It was around this time that Jacob noticed that Nessie was, in fact, smiling, even if he could still tell that her parents were somewhere in the back of her mind. That was generally the cue to that Jacob needed to stop worrying and just enjoy himself. This was probably one of the first times that Nessie really had a chance to have fun without worrying about all the crap that was going on with her family and Jacob wasn't going to be the one to ruin it. His face split into a grin as she stated that she'd like to dance. "All right then, let's," he agreed, letting her lead him to the middle of the dancefloor. Gender roles be damned, he liked it better this way. When Nessie wanted, she knew how to take charge, and it was part of what he loved about her.
It was funny, how some people who knew their situation would think that the only reason he really cared about Nessie was the fact that she was Bella's daughter, like a replacement. Honestly, those people weren't paying enough attention to who Nessie was aside from being her mother's daughter. Yes, there were so many things that reminded him of his dearest friend when he was around Nessie; her eyes, her occassional insecurity, her sense of humor...but there were still so many things that were just uniquely Nessie. One of them was a total appreciation for things in life that Bella just never found appealing, like dancing. If anyone who thought that way could see Nessie like Jacob did, they'd see that this was completely different, how separate mother and daughter really were.

Nessie flicked her dark hair over he shoulder, tugging self-consciously at the hem of her dress. It was just a few inches too short for her taste. She didn't mind showing her legs, but there were other parts of her anatomy she'd prefer to leave to the imagination as far as the rest of the city was concerned. Eventually giving up and deciding that it wasn't worth the struggle, she focused instead on the music thumping through the club. After taking a moment to find her rhythm, she did a little twirl then swayed her hips slowly in time with the bass, smiling and reaching out for Jacob's hand.
She'd been doing a lot of thinking in the past few days, and had come to terms with the fact that her feelings for Jacob now extended beyond friendship. She wanted something more out of this, and it was okay, something that had taken Nessie awhile to realize. She'd been so afraid for so long, of her own feelings and what would happen when she expressed them to him, but now it all didn't really seem to matter. She had a feeling that he wanted something more too. Nothing was obvious, but sometimes the way he'd look at her, or the way it'd feel when they'd touch... She could just sense it.

Jacob couldn't help but notice the attention Nessie paid to where her dress was falling and offered a spark of sympathy from his eyes. He had to admit, if anyone even thought about looking at her the wrong way because of the unusually short dress, they were going to have to contend with him. He was no Edward, but he could probably be pretty intimidating when he had to be. At least she was able to forget the fact that there probably were some perverts around here who would be a little too happy about the glimpses they could possibly get. It was a good thing he was more than practiced in controlling his temper enough to prevent phasing. Had he been in this situation ten years ago, before he really knew what was going on with him, he knew that just a misinterpretation could set him off.
But again, this wasn't the time to screw things up. This was important to Nessie, he could see that. Sure, she hadn't said anything, but they had that connection that let him know these sorts of things. So he danced with her, grabbing her hand at her silent request and grinning at her. She really had a talent for this. He brought himself closer to her, unable to help himself there.

Nessie noticed the flash of ... was that anger? ... that flickered across his face, so quickly she wasn't even completely sure she'd seen it. She was puzzled for a moment, then realized what had occurred beforehand and guessed his thoughts, grateful that the club was dark and that he wouldn't be able to see the blush that spread across her face. It was moments like those that hinted to her that Jacob felt more than friendship betweeen them as well. The thought made a warm, fuzzy feeling spring up in the pit of her stomach and she grinned.
Her heart spluttered as he moved closer, but luckily her feet didn't do the same. She kept up her fluid movements to the pulsing beat, working mainly with her hips and upper body. The one downfall to a club was that usually they were so packed that movement was limited, and it all but forced you to use your partner as a stripper pole. As it were, her parents would be infuriated enough with just this. So, she was going to do her best to be subtly seductive in her movements, enoguh to make herself happy but still retain some modesty.

Jacob wasn't usually much of a dancer in the first place, and it was even rarer where he would enjoy being such close proximity with anyone. It was bad enough being so mentally close with his fellow pack members, after all. This, naturally, was the exception to the rule. Being this close to Nessie was pure heaven. Or at least it would have been if he couldn't sense her slight discomfort in having to risk some modesty here. However, he found himself grinning before he let his arms wrap around her waist, letting them spin a bit before he dipped her, then pulling her up and resting a hand on her shoulder.
"Enjoying yourself?" he asked, keeping his volume reasonably high.

In any other situation, the heat would've been unbearable. Had it been anyone else, she wouldn't have been able to stand being packed in like sardines. But here, with Jacob, was an entirely different story. The heat radiating from him, permeating from his arms that were secure around her waist, was comfortable, welcomed. It was right. She laughed as he dipped her, then wrapped her arms around his broad shoulders as best they could as she came back up. "Immensely," she shouted back over the music, grinning broadly.

People would think that there had to be a mistake if they saw who was sitting at the bar and not ordering anything. Surely it was just someone who just looked like Edward. The only problem with that theory is that just about everyone in Forks knew that there was no one who looked like Edward. So it was undeniable. Edward Cullen was actually in a club, with thunderous music and thoughts from just about everyone present flying around in his mind like gnats. The very fact that he came here, of all places, to escape things that was bothering him just screamed out how bad things were getting in the Cullen Manor. It wasn't even like it was so much arguing as it was silence. He and Bella were never silent around one another, at least not until recent months. It was positively maddening, not being able to speak without snapping at each other within seconds. It had to stop, but Edward wasn't the sort of person who could deal with this without first having some time away. This new night club seemed like the perfect cure for the silence.
As of right now, he was simply staring ahead, finding this to be completely out of his element, hence why he was separated himself from the crowds. It was slightly easier once some of the girls noticed him, but it was still rather hellish. How on earth could anyone be comfortable in such a crowded area. That would have been bad enough if it weren't for the buzzing thoughts all merging together, even if they were generally the same things. Money, sex and cats. He almost smirked at the memories associated with that thought, but the fact that that he and Bella's future was in jeopardy made that just about impossible. Shaking his head to clear his mind of that [he had come here to escape, after all], he let his eyes wander some more. And that was when it happened.
He could recognize the dog's scent from miles. And yes, he was more than entitled to call him a dog, because of the young woman he couldn't have been closer to. Additionally, the dress she was wearing looked like it was dying to climb up to her waist. His nostrils flared, the crowds forgotten, he stormed into the scene, almost forgetting to keep his pace at a human level, because he was at the couple rather quickly. "Jacob Black, what on earth...?" It was only then that he could pick up on the thoughts of the woman. That was possibly even worse than his initial feelings about this...because there was no denying that mind. That was Nessie. In the middle of this club. About a centimeter away from Jacob in a dress that barely covered her.
This, no doubt, was what an out of body experience felt like.

Nessie couldn't imagine how her night could be ruined. That is, she coudln't until she heard her father's voice not a foot away from them. Horrified, she froze in place, feeling her cheeks flush bright red. Oh my GOD, she groaned in her head, not caring at this point that her father could hear her. She looked apologetically to Jacob, then turned her gaze to her father, giving him a small, innocent smile. "Hi Daddy," she greeted. "Um, the dress is Alice's?" she offered, biting her lip. I'm screwed. I'm absolutely screwed. Dead, even. No, beyond dead. Whatever the hell is beyond dead, I am it.

It was almost like back when they were fighting over Bella; Jacob knew that a fight was coming. Still, the fact that he hadn't smelled Edward coming surprised him immensely. Then again, he had been spending so much time at the Cullens that he was almost immuned to it now. Fatal mistake, Jacob now realized, but Edward looked just about ready to kill him for corrupting an innocent. After all, didn't all fathers, leech or not, think of their children as innocent little angels that wore pigtails. This would most definitely kill that fantasy, and Jacob would be held responsible. Great. I think that death wish that he kept saying I had will be followed tonight.
Edward couldn't stop staring. He wondered if maybe, just maybe, television didn't exaggerate when crazy things like this happened and it felt as if the world was slowing down around him. After all, it wasn't like he could faint. Still, he was able to respond to her words. "I don't care if that dress belongs to the Queen of England, Reneesme. You still have some explaining to do!" Of course, this scene looked incredibly odd to the few people that were able to hear this over the music because they were so close to them; he could hear them wondering who was cheating on whom [the fact that some of them thought that he was angry over have Jacob stolen from him nearly made him sick, but he was far too angry to pay it much mind], or if he was the big brother who liked being a rat bastard.

Nessie winced as her father yelled at her, knowing she had this coming. Well, kinda. She could understand him being pissed about the dressed, and maybe how close she was to Jacob. But the rest of it she'd argue with him over, if he wanted to tell her she shouldn't be here. "Well, Jacob just wanted to get me out of the house for a night, you know, to wind down, c'ause you and Mom fighting all the time is really starting to get to me. He was just trying to help me feel better. And I honestly thought the dress was longer, but by the time I realized it was too short we were already over halfway here, and I didn't want to ask him to turn back. Please don't be mad..." It was a pretty much useless plea, but she said it anyway, hoping maybe it'd help get her out of trouble.

Edward knew that Nessie was a reasonable person that he really didn't need to scold like she was a child, even when she went off doing something that was so unacceptable in his eyes. Yet there something different tonight, something that made him lose his cool. Something that threw reasonable, mature Edward out the window the left a rambling lunatic in his place. "Reneesme, this was completely irresponsible and you know it! Was it really so bad that you had to sneak behind our backs?" The fact that she had even brought up the fact that he had been having issues with Bella was just the icing on the cake of how aggravated he was at her behavior. "For God's sake, you're not a baby anymore! I expect maturity!" Although honestly, those words were difficult for him to get out. What? No, what are you talking about? No, don't push her into adulthood, are you mad?! She's grown up fast enough already!
"Uh...Edward?" Jacob finally decided to interrupt, knowing he was just asking for his throat to be ripped out. Indeed, Edward spat out his name with so much venom that Jacob was surprised he wasn't getting sick already. Still, this had to be said, and he wasn't going to chicken out just because they had a vampire cursing them out. So he just stuck with mentally telling him, People are staring at us, in case you haven't noticed. You know how we don't want attention drawn to us, right?
In spite of being royally furious at Jacob, enough that he was just baby steps from killing him right there, the warning did force Edward to think sensibly. Never letting his glare fall, he said, "Outside. Now." Jacob let out a sigh, wrapping an arm around Nessie and giving her a look that he hoped said, "Well, this was fun while it lasted. Sorry I got your dad all pissed off."
