Edward Cullen
The Dream
Name: Edward Anthony Masen Cullen
Age Forever 17, although he's technically nearly 100 years old
Occupation: Unemployed, although he may start going to high school again soon.
Species: Vampire
The Visage
Avatar Claim: Robert Pattison
Eye Color: Varies between gold and black, depending on when he last ate.
Hair Color: Bronze (aka, reddish brown).
Height: 6'2
Weight: 175
Facial Features: He has a smile that tends to tilt upwards more on one side than the other. His skin, like for all vampires, is startlingly pale, and he has dark circles under his eyes from a lack of sleep.
Anything Else?
Overall Dress/Appearance: Most human girls agree that Edward Cullen looks like a god. With his chistled features, piercing eyes, and slightly messy auburn hair, it's amazing how he can be totally unaware of the effect he has on people. His facial expression is practically a direct gateway to how he's really feeling, because he couldn't control that part of him if he tried. Like all vampires, he's very pale with dark, bruise like circles around his eyes, and his eye color depends on when he's fed last. When he's recently gone hunting, his eyes are a topaz color, and when he's gone a long time without blood, they're completely black. Edward is very tall and lanky, and he tends to not think too much about how he dresses. He overthinks everything enough, and they already have one fashionista in the family, after all. Still, he tends to go for something a little nicer than jeans and a sweatshirt. Not as if he'd need a sweatshirt anyway.
The Demeanor
Overall Personality: One of the major personality traits that Edward possesses is his passion for people he cares about. He's not going to let anyone he cares about get hurt and he holds great faith in them, almost putting those he's especially close to (ie-Bella) on a pedestal. Some may argue that it's due to this passion that he often makes rash decisions, and also beats himself up so much over the slightest mistake that could have caused his loved ones pain. Actually, that isn't even necessary for him to beat himself up, because despite the fact that it has decreased substantially since Bella came into his life, there are still times when he views himself as a monster. This, and the fact that he tends to overthink the wrong things and then act impulsively at the wrong things as well, is his greatest flaw.
Despite all of this, he's actually the sort of person you'd want on your side. He's not going to be one of those people who will allow you to mess with him or anyone he cares about. While he won't resort to violence unless it's absolutely necessary, if you turn out to be the one he fights, you'll be very lucky if you simply end up in a body cast. On the other hand, if you're on his good side, he can actually be quite witty, often able to come up with a response that can actually make you laugh within a few seconds. Additionally, as I've said before, he'll do anything for people he cares about, whether it's writing you a lullaby or literally battling Death to keep it away from you. Still, this protective nature he holds might actually be smothering, because the problem is that what he thinks is best for you isn't necessarily what is best for you. Even reading minds doesn't stop him from being that presumptuous. The worst of it is that he's so stubborn that it'll be like pulling teeth to make him change his mind.
What is your character's deepest secret? There are times when he feels like he needs to make sure Bella doesn't get herself into any danger, almost as if he forgets that she's not human anymore.
What is your character's strongest desire? To be with the people he cares about forever and to always be able to protect them.
The Past
Family: Edward Masen Sr [Biological father, deceased]
Elizabeth Masen [Biological mother, deceased]
Carlisle Cullen [Adopted Father]
Esme Cullen [Adopted Mother]
Alice Cullen & Rosalie Hale [Sisters]
Emmett Cullen & Jasper Hale [Brothers]
Bella Swan-Cullen [Wife]
Reneesme Cullen [Daughter]
Previous and Current Romantic Relationships: Despite all the ladies that greatly desired him, none before Bella, and he wouldn't have had it any other way.
History: Edward’s human life in Chicago was fairly happy and uneventful. His parents were moderately wealthy as his father was a successful lawyer. The biggest worry in his mother’s life was the fact that World War I was raging and Edward was only a year away from the draft, which had been lowered to 18 years of age in August of 1918. (PC1)
By September of that same year, the influenza epidemic hit, claiming the lives of both of Edward’s parents and very nearly taking his own as well. Edward was changed into a vampire by Dr. Carlisle Cullen as an indirect favor to his dying mother. Ten years after the change, he rebelled against Carlisle's practice of draining the blood of animals rather than of humans and parted ways with him, pursuing murderers and vagabonds as a way of justifying their deaths to himself. He returned to Carlisle and Esme a few years later and has not strayed since.
On Bella's very first day at Forks High School, Edward notices that he is unable to read her mind. Later, in Biology, he is overwhelmed by her scent - to the point of contemplating killing everyone in the classroom so there would be no witnesses. Resentful and angry that Bella could make him lose the control he'd built for years so easily, Edward is standoffish and even hostile to her. He is the first out of class and immediately tries to transfer out of that particular Biology block. However, he runs into Bella again in the front office and that same desire overcomes him. To avoid doing something he would later regret, he runs away to Alaska.
Eventually, Edwards finds himself unable to stay away from Bella and returns to school, where they carry on as acquaintances until Bella is nearly hit by Tyler Crowley's car. At risk of revealing himself, he saves her using his supernatural speed and strength, but in the process makes her suspicious and his family displeased. Bella soon discovers that Edward is a vampire and by then it is too late for either of them to stay away from each other. When Bella is interrogated by Jessica about her relationship with him, Edward allows her to let Jessica believe they are dating.
Being with Bella is a constant risk for Edward because he must war with his desire for her blood and the fact that he could very easily kill her, whether or not he meant to. He constantly warns Bella against staying with him, but she ignores him every time. At the end of Twilight, he saves her from a hunter named James and then takes her to prom.
In New Moon, Bella gets a papercut and is almost attacked by Edward's brother, Jasper. This scares Edward into moving out of Forks with his family to keep her safe. He wanders around for quite some time until Rosalie tells him that Bella is dead and, unwilling to live without her, Edward rushes to Italy and to the Volturi (the 'royal family' of vampires) in order to have them kill him. When they refuse, Edward decides to commit suicide by forcing their hand - anyone who reveals themselves as a vampire on Volturi lands will immediately be executed - and stepping out into the sun.
He is stopped by Bella, who, along with Alice, rushed to Italy as soon as she found out what he was doing. But they aren't safe for the time being, as he still has the Volturi to answer to. When they find out that not only does Bella know about them but they cannot use their powers on her for reasons that are yet to be explained, they tell Edward that he must change Bella into a vampire or they will kill her. Back in Forks, Edward says that he will change Bella if she promises to marry him. Later, Jacob reminded Edward of the treaty made between the Cullens and the La Push werewolves, which stated that no Cullen would bite a human. Bite, not kill.
In Eclipse, Bella is upset by the fact that her best friend and werewolf, Jacob Black, refuses to talk to her. Edward, still trying to draw out Bella's human life, insists on her filling out various applications for college. While bringing over more applications, Edward notices the newspaper's cover story about multiple murders in nearby Seattle. He reveals that his family suspects new-born vampires are about, though they can’t imagine why they aren’t aware of the rules set down by the Volturi. Edward, Bella, and Alice are finishing their senior years. One day at school, Alice sees that Victoria is back in town, searching for Bella. Edward tries to keep this information from Bella. He insists that they take the weekend to go visit Bella’s mother in Florida, using the tickets given to Bella for her 18th birthday by Edward’s parents.
When they get back, Jacob confronts Edward about why he kept this information from Bella, also discussing the treaty’s bounds, as the Cullen’s crossed the territorial line chasing Victoria. Edward tells Bella what happened, revealing that he took Bella from Forks to keep her safe. Bella and Jacob reconcile, and begin hanging out once again, of which Edward disapproves. After convincing Edward that she will be safe with the werewolves, Edward allows Bella to visit La Push once in a while. On one of these visits, Jacob confesses his love for Bella, kissing her forcefully. She injures her hand punching him, something Edward is proud of. Edward threatens Jacob on Bella’s return from La Push.
Edward's reluctance of changing Bella into a vampire is revealed. He tells Bella that changing her into monster, just so that he will no longer be alone, is the most selfish act that he can think of. He tells her that if there was any way for him to be human again, he would change for her no matter the price.
Edward proposes to Bella once more, and she accepts under the condition that he'll make love to her after they wed. Jacob and Edward make a treaty to work together to protect Bella from Victoria, who is still attempting to find her. After a while, the Cullens figure out why there is a pack of newborn vampires in Seattle, as Jasper Cullen had experience with the situation: they are being bred as an army. The werewolves agree to fight the vampires with the Cullens, and a plan is made to rage battle against them, using Jaspers knowledge of newborns and their instincts. While laying down this plan, Edward and Bella decide to spend the night in the mountains. The night is so cold, however, that Bella needs Jacob to come and sleep in her sleeping bag to keep her warm. During the night, when Bella is thought to be asleep, Jacob openly confesses his feelings for Bella to Edward, and the two of them come to an understanding that there are things Jacob can do for Bella that Edward cannot do, such as keep her warm.
In the morning, Edward and Bella begin to discuss some of their favorite nights together and the marriage between the two is brought up. They are interrupted by a loud howl of agony, and Bella realizes that Jacob was listening out side the tent. She sends Edward to find him, worried about what he might do in his pain. When they return, Edward gives them time to talk. Jacob tells her he will commit suicide during battle if she does not kiss him. This is a trick to get Bella to admit she is in love with him. She then begs Jacob to do so. During the kiss, Bella realizes she is in love with Jacob; however it is not of the same love or intensity with which she loves Edward. When Edward returns, he realizes what happens by listening to another werewolfs thoughts. He tells Bella that he is not angry at her being in love with him, and that he understands her frustration.
Soon after, Victoria arrives with her coven of newborns, and the battle begins. Victoria leaves her group in the course of the fight to track down Bella, and arrives at the camp site where Edward, Bella, and Seth, a young werewolf are. One of Victoria’s newborns is with her. Seth defeats the newborn Riley, and Edward destroys Victoria. The battle ends, and it is discovered that Jacob has been wounded. Bella goes to visit him, and they come to an understanding that Bella loves Jacob, but cannot live without Edward. Jacob insists that if she changes her mind, he will be waiting. Edward and Bella decide that it is time to tell Charlie of their engagement, and go off to do so. Edward, without Bella’s knowledge, sends Jacob a wedding invitation, angering him unintentionally. The book ends with Jacob running away in wolf form, trying to “Leave Jacob Black behind”.
Breaking Dawn sees Edward and Bella marry. Bella becomes pregnant on their honeymoon, and the rapid growth of the half-human, half-vampire fetus swiftly impacts on Bella’s health. Edward tries to coerce her into having an abortion in order to save her own life. However, Bella feels a bond with her unborn child and insists on giving birth. Edward comes to feel love for the baby as well, after he hears its thoughts and learns that the baby loves Bella in return. Bella nearly dies giving birth in an emergency c-section, but Edward successfully delivers his daughter and then injects Bella's heart with his venom, healing her wounds by turning her into an immortal vampire. During Bella's painful transformation, Jacob imprints on their baby daughter, Renesmee.
After a vampire named Irina mistakes Renesmee for an immortal vampire child - a creation forbidden in the vampire world - the Volturi arrive to destroy the Cullens. Edward stands with Bella and their allies to convince the Volturi that Renesmee is not an immortal child and poses no threat to their existence. Once the Volturi leave, Edward and Bella feel free to live their lives in peace with their daughter. And indeed they have...up until recently, anyway. Now that Nessie's a full grown woman, he finds himself growing anxious. Seven years isn't nearly enough to be able to

RP Sample: This was insanity, Edward knew that all too well. Why he was leaving Bella to her own devices back at the apartment and looking around the park, especially in a time where not one, but two insane women posed a threat, was almost inconceivable. Except for one minor detail; it seemed that the woman's first victim (the boy, not the twins) was coming from the park before the incident happened. Logically, it was best that he looked everywhere that he could manage for that woman so it'd be possible to alert everyone at the apartment. Just because he was technically a danger to the residents, didn't mean he couldn't warn them of another one.
As he stepped on some dry leaves, Edward began to notice that it was a good day for him to be out, really. There was enough cloud cover that it would be highly unlikely for the sun to expose him for what he really was. So he didn't have to worry about having to make a break for it before someone saw his skin sparkling and could put his whole concentration on finding the woman he saw in Krisa and Ginny's minds. It'd be so convenient if he could find her now...perhaps go back to his dark habits of playing God and choosing who deserved to die. The idea made him feel rather sick, but it seemed that there'd be no reasoning with Bellatrix Lestrange. She'd have to be done away with before someone else died.
Then he caught hints of thoughts that were surprisingly similar to his own. His dark amber eyes (he would need to feed in a few days) darted toward a park bench where a boy who looked a couple of years older than him (although it was likely that Edward was older than his great grandfather) with brown hair, seeming rather troubled. Who wouldn't be, as it seemed that he was related to that wretched woman.
Edward generally avoided approaching people, for their own protection. But their similar goals made it very tempting to do so. If only he had enough confidence in his own self control, then this wouldn't be a problem in the slightest.
