Ariel Lucinda Alvarez
The Dream
Name: Ariel Alvarez
Age:15
Occupation: Student.
Species: Human
The Visage
Avatar Claim: Silvana Arias
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color: Dark Brown
Height: 5'5
Weight: 130 pounds
Facial Features: A slightly slanted nose and wide brown eyes that seem to cover up so many secrets unless you know what to look for in them. Her cheeks are slightly pink and she's very susceptible to blushing.
Anything Else? She has a beauty mark by her eyebrow.
Overall Dress/Appearance:
The Demeanor
Overall Personality: Ariel might be a little difficult to figure out. She rarely tells you anything personal unless it happens to come up in conversation. It isn't as if she's ashamed of anything. It's just a matter of, not to be rude or anything, it not being anyone else's business. You have to be a very good friend of hers for her to really open up her heart to you. Strangely enough, in spite of her making an enigma of herself, she makes friends rather easily. She has the sort of look about her that makes people want to spend time with her, and she's more than willing to do so. Perhaps it's because she rarely talks about herself that she can figure things out about other people that some people might not notice. She's pretty perceptive in many cases, but can indeed be blinded by her emotions so that seemingly obvious things can be lost on her.
One of her greatest weaknesses is a sense of insecurity. She will give her whole heart and soul to someone or something, but she won't feel as though she's at all worthy of praise or having that sort of devotion returned. She never asks for anything, and that often means she loses out on things that she wants. Even her own parents miss out on her silent pleas, even though they try desperately to give her what she wants. It's part of the reason why she hasn't told them about her secrets yet. She's smart enough to know that they'll love her no matter what. It's just a matter of not wanting to disappoint them or take them by surprise too much. The same goes for a lot of other aspects of her life, especially her past relationship.
As it is, Ariel's very loving and devoted, able to put all of her energy into things that matter to her, such as her Craft or her parents or a friend in need. Now, this may sound very serious to you, but she's certainly capable of a good time. In fact, she adores screaming at the television screen when a football game isn't going her way, and even retail therapy as been known to be an outlet for her. It just so happens that she knows that there are more important things, like loving the earth that gave birth to all of this life, and the people around her. Material items just add a certain spark of fun into life, but she'd never let them rule it.
What is your character's deepest secret? Being a lesbian Wiccan, but she only REALLY keeps this from her parents. It's that fact that makes these secrets so crucial.
What is your character's strongest desire? It's complicated....she supposes total serenity and happiness.
The Past
Family: Bernardo Alvarez [40]: Her father. She was very close to him back when she was a little kid, but being a teen's kind of separated them.
Anita Alvarez [39]: She and her mother often go shopping together, but they don't really talk about things. It isn't as if it's by choice...they just don't know how to start the conversations.
Previous and Current Romantic Relationships: Kara Carter, a girl who used her over the summer.
History: Sometime in the middle of a Fourth of July celebration, Anita's water broke and nearly had her baby right on the hill that she and her husband, Bernardo, had set up a picnic. Thankfully, the two got into the hospital on time, and after some panicking and screaming, a beautiful little girl was born. Originally, Bernardo had wanted a boy, but the moment he saw Ariel, that priority seemed so unnecessary. Still, it was clear that he had wanted someone to do supposedly "male" things with, so a good amount of Ariel's childhood consisted of fishing and tossing balls around. The family was actually very close for the first eleven years of Ariel's life; it was almost a golden age of sorts. Of course, there were the few bad report cards and arguments over having pizza or not, but nothing that they couldn't patch up together.
It was around when she started junior high that things started changing. Ariel began to realize how different she really was from most people. She found that she was the only person who talked about animals like they were people, about the earth like it had a soul. This earned her quite an amount of teasing, but that didn't hurt her so much as it confused her. Sometime in the middle of this, she came to thinking about the Church. Her family wasn't all that religious, but they attended Midnight Mass, especially around Christmas and Easter. Did she ever really feel anything from that? The more she thought about it, the louder the answer in the negative became. So what did she believe? It took quite a bit of reading for her to find Wicca, but once she did, she felt as if she had returned home. She started with small rituals, keeping it as secret as she could [it was just lucky they lived so near a forest] and as her peace with this religion increased, so did the length of time she'd devote to it.
Yet she still felt some amount of confusion. She couldn't place it, and it wasn't until a vacation to the Bahamas last summer that she realized what it was. Her answer came in the form of what was, in her mind, a brunette bombshell named Kara Carter. The minute she slid off her sunglasses and said, "Hey there," Ariel was hooked, and she had thought Kara felt the same way. Every kiss, however brief and stolen, drove Ariel absolutely mad, and she was so sure she was madly in love with her. She was ready to introduce Kara to her parents when she walked in on Kara kissing another girl. She was too devastated to even confront her. She simply walked away quietly, beyond tears. She wouldn't even tell her parents what was the matter.
She's begun to heal from the wounds of being shattered the way she was, but Ariel's going to be much more careful the next time she dips her toes into the pool of love. For now, she's satisfied with healing quietly, and not allowing herself to regret it.

Your Name: Jasmine
Age: 17
Time Roleplaying: Nearly 5 years
How'd you find us? I play four guys on this site. Here's my first female. Yay!
Any other characters? Edward Cullen, Jacob Black, Zach Josanno, Ben Jenkins
Let Us Begin...
RP Sample: There were few things in this world that could make Ariel Alvarez truly angry. Reading The Crucible was one of them. And it wasn't obvious anger, no. It was just the curve of her lip, how it pointed downwards, and the darkness that seemed to cloud her brown eyes at the very thought of the behavior that the Puritans displayed in this play. How could they say they were religious people? Didn't their own religion clearly state, "Love thy neighbor as thyself"? How was burning innocent people who had truly done nothing...how could something like that be done and how could people turn around and say it was in the name of God, in the name of defeating evil? Evil had no place in the army against evil, and that was precisely what burning them was.
Letting out an aggravated sigh, Ariel placed the hardcover copy of the offending book on her nightstand, settling herself into her bed. She had a feeling that sleep wouldn't come easily for her tonight. She would just be thinking about the state of the world. Had the human race really come so far from burning? Sure, it wasn't done by the government anymore, but people still looked at the likes of her, gay and a witch, with enough disgust to make the heart feel like it was being burnt at the very stakes that hundreds of people had perished at. She actually felt a tear come to her eye at the thought. Would she always feel so alone in this heart that went outside of the norm society set for her?
It was times like these when she wondered if she could tell her parents now, when she desperately needed their comfort. But how would they feel? Of course they'd do what they could, because they loved her. That was just it. She'd be taking advantage of their love, so they could overlook their surprise and the ideas they had for her life having to change. She knew that that was never a comfortable situation to be in and she couldn't bring herself to put her mother and father, the wonderful people who brought her into this world, through that. She could deal with this just for a little more time...When they're ready, I'll know, she promised herself. Yet there was logic again, reminding her that at this rate, they would never be ready enough. It wasn't possible to prepare oneself for the kind of confession Ariel had echo in her mind a thousand times. Sure, maybe it would be selfish, but it wasn't helping anyone if she remained silent. She could at least help one side of this situation.
Yet she turned over, trying to block out these thoughts and shut her eyes. Sleep couldn't arrive soon enough.
