Benvolio Lombardi Jenkins
The Dream
Name: Benvolio Jenkins, also known as Ben, his pseudonym is Peter Lombardi (which is what his son's name was)
Age Well, he was born in 1592, so 426. He appears to be in his mid twenties, however.
Occupation: Author. He's been writing for about a hundred years, under multiple pen names.
Species: Vegetarian Vampire
The Visage
Avatar Claim: Jonathan Rhys Myers
Eye Color: Black/Gold, depending on when the last time he fed, but he was born with blue eyes.
Hair Color: Black-ish brown
Height: 6'
Weight: 180
Facial Features: Usually, when he's not smiling, Ben seemed to have a perpetual scowl or glare on his facial expression. It's part of the reason why he's lead such a lonesome existence in his four centuries as a vampire; people just find themselves not wanting to associate with him, no matter how handsome he is.
Anything Else?
Overall Dress/Appearance: (At least a paragraph. This is completely optional. I personally hate having to write out detailed appearances, and won't require it on my site. however, if you're one of those people that likes those kind of thing, be my guest.)
The Demeanor
Overall Personality: Being alone for too long has its disadvantages. Ben's social skills and tact aren't at all up to speed, and if he were to really speak with anyone, he might come off as rude, stuck up or condescending. On the surface, Ben just acts like he doesn't give a damn about other people, even though the opposite is true. He just doesn't want to get too close to anyone, because until Byron's dead, he's not going to be able to rest and actually live a semi normal life. He's totally overcome with the idea of getting back at Byron, and for all these years, that has been the main goal of his life. He tends to be very angry about things, especially when he's left to his own thoughts for too long. He dwells on things, especially the past, and often feels like he's responsible for everything Byron does, because he hasn't killed him yet.
Byron's very sarcastic and actually has a real way with words. In fact, you'll find that he's a great conversationalist when you actually manage to talk to him. Yet he puts up a front of being more of a man of action, even though there are definitely times when he's very indecisive on what to actually do about certain things. For example, he has absolutely no clue of how to actually bring himself to kill Byron. That's the only reason why the bastard is still alive after all these years. The only time he actually succeeded in tearing the guy into pieces, he managed to quite literally pull himself together. That shattered his confidence for half a decade, and guilt piled up as newspaper headlines of dead bodies found in the area, almost certainly pointing to Byron. The fact is, this obsession with killing his adversary is about more than just revenge...it's about stopping anyone from meeting the fates that his husband and child did.
What is your character's deepest secret? Everything about his life, generally.
What is your character's strongest desire? To have Byron killed once and for all.
The Past
Family: Helena Lombardi [wife, deceased]
Peter Lombardi [wife, deceased]
Previous and Current Romantic Relationships: Helena, his wife, and the other piece of his soul, that's now been missing for a long time. Yes, other beauties have caught his eye over the years, but he never acted on it.
History: Things were actually pretty normal for Benvolio in the beginning. His father was a blacksmith, so so was he, and he didn't do much to rock the boat when it came to it. He was actually a pretty obedient child, and grew to be a normal young man of the era and social class. Really, the only thing different about him was that he was lucky enough to actually be in love with the girl that he was promised to, and she him. He and Helena? They were the ideal romantic couple that many people envied. In a strange way, even in their simplicity, they had found perfection, at least in Ben's mind. So he would work, come home to her, falling more in love with her each day, and eventually helping her raise their son Peter. In his naivety, he was sure that things would always be this heavenly.
Unfortunately, there was one night where he woke up to see a ghostly pale face above him and blood on Helena's side of the bed. Before he could even scream from that, he found himself screaming from the fire that was burning through his veins. Every hour, on the hour, until finally it ended. He felt like he had awoken from a bad dream, but as it turned out, the nightmare was just beginning. The vampire's name was Byron, and he had killed Helena and Peter, and was going to kill Ben. Had it not been for the potential he realized he had, he would have joined them soon enough. For the first time in Benvolio's life, he felt a true fit of rage, and he nearly destroyed Byron, but the vampire slipped from his clutches. He attempted to chase after him, but somehow, Byron and his lackeys were completely gone.
After this, Ben simply ran as far as he could go, and it felt as if he were running forever, until eventually, he was emotionally too exhausted to keep going. Besides, he realized that the sun was going to come out soon, and he, like many, thought he'd be destroyed by the sunlight. It was simply a survival instinct that made him take cover in a nearby forest, because at the moment, death seemed very good. So for a long time, he allowed himself time alone in the forest, extreme thirst driving him to feed on any animals (humans were lucky that he was well fed, because the combination of that and imagining every one as a version of Helena and Peter saved their lives) that passed him by in his hiding spot, and trying to cope. Sometime around this, he snapped, the anger from that first night finally gaining control of him, but this time, he didn't rage. He merely plotted.
So the sickest game of cat and mouse ever began. He never rested after he discovered that he couldn't die from sunlight, nor did he need to sleep. It was all that occupied his thoughts, the end of Byron, and there have been several confrontations between the two, with neither vampire coming up on top. It was only two centuries later that Ben realized he was going to go utterly mad if he didn't find an outlet. So he made up a pseudonym, stole a typewriter and got to typing out all of his thoughts, and as it turned out, many passages were actually enjoyable, reading wise. That was when he ended up writing stories based off of these thoughts, but of course changing the scenarios as much as he could. Besides...no one would believe the real story, and fiction had to make sense.
So, this has been his entire existence all this time. Hunting, writing, and solitude. Sure, some pretty faces caught his eye, and even ended up as characters in his book from his people watching, but that was about it. He doesn't even realize how badly he needs a life. That's how sad his situation is. But maybe, just maybe, all this hunting will gain more than another torn up and burnt vampire.

RP Sample: The sound of keys being chosen by his fingertips seemed to be the only consistent part of Ben's life anymore. Even chasing Byron wasn't that way. Because there were definitely times when it was hard to tell who was chasing whom, even Ben would admit that. Just not out loud. Any admitted weakness, especially when one was thinking of one's adversary, was completely out of the question. It would just make you all the more vulnerable, and honestly, he wanted to have the upperhand. They had been evenly matched for far too long. Sometime before this decade was over, he was going to do away with the man...no, monster, who ruined his life.
He remembered the first time he had come close. Remembered the sounds of tearing that had actually made him wince, even if killing had been something he was accustomed to by then, and how instead of blood, it was just a strange sort of liquid that he would later realize was venom. He remembered the grim satisfaction he felt, and vaguely thinking of finding a way to do the same to himself. He turned to leave, just going at a normal pace, at least one for a vampire. It was barely an hour before Byron was now on his tail, seeming royally furious. Still being slightly naive, Ben was completely stunned. How on earth could anything live through that, even when you're part of the immortal race?!
Now he knew better, from whispers among his fellow vampires, whom he avoided just like humans. He'd have to burn the pieces next time, and then scatter the ashes as far as he could. Even then, he'd have to be on his guard. Oh, he would be. The days of being the oblivious black smith who slept through his wife and child's deaths were lone logged in the history books. He was vigilant, he was ready and Byron was going to be dead.
